Scala Cinema & Arts Centre, Prestatyn, North Wales
Behind the carefully restored High Street frontage lies a totally new 2-screen 100% digital cinema and arts centre. Each auditorium seats 150 and the studio auditorium has retractable seating to allow a wide range of uses including live drama, music and other forms of performance. A number of community meetings rooms are available for hire and there is a licenced cafe bar above the main entrance.
The venue has been designed by Burrell Foley Fischer LLP and the development has been carried out by Denbighshire County Council. The two cinemas are equipped with state-of-the-art digital cinema projection and sound equipment (supplied and installed by Future Projections). Ron Inglis and Sue Todd have been the project consultants since their original feasibility study in 2002.
The venue is operated by a new charitable status company, Scala Prestatyn Co. Ltd, and opened in February 2009.
