Cinema

Ron Inglis has worked in the cinema and arts sectors for over 35 years. He has worked in programming, marketing, financial control, business and building development, and has held appointments at senior management and Board level.


Consultancy work has included projects for the UK Film Council, BFI Southbank, Scottish Screen, Sgrîn (Media Agency for Wales), the Arts Council of Ireland, Northern Ireland Screen, regional screen agencies in England, local authorities and individual organisations throughout the UK. Current cinema projects include:


Shetland Cinema & Music Venue - an £11 million new arts and entertainment development called Mareel on the waterfront in Lerwick. Located alongside the new Shetland Museum and Archive, the building is underway and is scheduled to open in Spring 2011.


Scala Cinema & Arts Centre, Prestatyn - a £3.5 million complete redevelopment of the former Scala Cinema to provide a 2-screen digital cinema and live performance venue with catering and community facilities. [With Sue Todd] Opened February 2009.


Digital cinema in rural, coastal and smaller towns – projects in different areas of Scotland involving new builds or major redevelopment of existing premises. All will feature digital cinema projection systems. One of the cinemas will be in Fort William and will incorporate digital media production facilities.


BFI Southbank – a review of the technical operations at the newly redeveloped and expanded Southbank centre. The review was partly in preparation for a proposed National Film Centre on London's Southbank. [With Torkell Sætervadet]
