I work on venue and organisation development projects at the pre-feasibility, options appraisal and full feasibility stages. On some projects architects, technical consultants, marketing consultants and fundraising specialists are brought in as part of the team.
Feasibility studies aim to answer critical questions:
• Can it be done?
• Should it be done?
• What are the main options?
• What is the preferred option?
• Is the option viable?
• What are the implications of pursuing this option?
If following the initial feasibility and options appraisal work the project proceeds I will usually undertake development and business planning with the client. On some occasions I assist with the physical development and launch of the venue or project.
Recent work has included new build venues as well as conversions and refurbishments of historic buildings in locations from the Highlands of Scotland to the south west of England to North Wales. Feasibility studies for film festivals, digital media centres and performing arts facilities have been conducted for clients in rural and urban areas of the UK. A recent complicated project in Yorkshire concerned a venue which is intending to incorporate performing arts, heritage exhibitions, and function hires.
